What is an Energy Audit?

An energy audits is a series of measurements used to determine the breakdown of electrical loads and the thermal performance of a building enclosure. Your utility bill will provide total energy use and cost but not the contribution of each appliance or subsystem.

How long does the Energy Audit take?

A full home audit of electrical loads and thermal performance can take 4 to 6 hours. Most residential clients choose the item of most concern electrical usage or thermal performance, so the average time required is 2.5 hours.

What is the cost of your services?

Our basic cost is $250 for the first hour and $120 per hour for additional time. The cost will vary depending on the tasks selected and the size of the building. Call or email us for a detailed quote.

What is a Home Energy Score evaluation?

The Home Energy Score evaluation provides a Department of Energy report that views the house as a system. The HES system rates homes from 1 to 10 based on regional averages. A low score means the house needs significant improvement. The report can be the basis for rebates for your utility or BAYREN. A $200 rebate is offered for a Home Energy Score evaluation.

What does a blower Door test accomplish?

The blower test reduces the house internal pressure to 50 pascals below outside pressure. Fifty pascals is the pressure required to draw water up a straw ~0.2 inches. The pressure difference allows us to find air leakage points and areas needing additional insulation.

Do I need a duct leakage test?

If the heating or cooling cost change dramatically month to month or versus last year a duct leakage test can help locate the problem.
